Ten reviews, ten quiet notebooks, ten small habits

I wanted a plain writing space that would not turn into a task manager after six weeks. HuntingtonMod stayed a notebook. The Morning three-line template is what I open every day before the tram, and the Sunday review closes the week without adding a chore. It sits in one tab and does not push.

I type in every espresso, every Späti bottle, every U-Bahn day-ticket. Old-fashioned, and the total at the end of the week has cured a small cash leak. There is no bank connection here, which is exactly why I trust it — nothing reads my Sparkasse. A humane page.

The dotted grid replaced three Post-its on my kitchen door. Twenty rows, one per habit, one dot per day, no streak pressure. I skip weekends and nothing shouts at me. The Sunday heat-map is honest in a way that makes the coming week easier to plan.

A ribbon of seven small dots per week, coloured by mood — no forced smiley, no "how are you feeling from one to ten". Over three months I have a quiet chart that helped me talk to my GP about sleep. It never went further than the browser tab.

Envelopes. Not sync-your-account envelopes, real hand-filled envelopes. I set the ceiling on the first of the month and log spending elsewhere. When an envelope empties I stop, or I move money on paper. The tool is quiet and, more importantly, honest.

Photograph the paper receipt, add one tag, done. My accountant asked for the yearly PDF and I produced it from Settings in one click. The images live in a bucket in Frankfurt — I checked. No cloud sync anywhere else.

I finally know how much I pay for subscriptions each month. The little list showed me two duplicates and one that ended a year ago. HuntingtonMod did not automate the cancellation — I did — but it surfaced what I was missing.

Title, author, three lines when I finish. That is the whole tool. Twelve books this year, and I can find the note I wrote for each of them in less than two seconds. Printed as an A5 pamphlet it made a nice new-year present for my sister.

Three lines a day. I resisted the idea for years — it sounded self-conscious — but the small page won me over in a month. Printed to A5 at the end of every month, it goes into a physical folder on the shelf. A gentle habit.

The Sunday page pulls the mood ribbon, the habit heat-map and asks three plain questions. Forty minutes at the kitchen table, coffee, done. It has become the load-bearing habit of my week. Nothing about it feels startup-shaped.
